Our task with this yard was to provide a connection between the house and the elevated patio. There were issues of drainage and grade changes that had to be addressed to create a flow. Limestone edged pathways and stairs blend into the existing structures, while new trees, shrubs and perennials provide the softening of the edges. A shallow custom steel planter on top of the existing patio worked to separate the large space using herbs. The focal point from the house became the beautiful round landing with the mountain laurel and maple in the distance.
