Heidi Choate is our Lead Designer who works with clients to create beautiful outdoor spaces. Heidi’s love for native plants and creating mini-ecosystems is evident in her work as she curates spaces that check all of the boxes for our clients: beautiful, sustainable, and design-forward. The process of creating a whole new space can be a little intimidating, but Heidi is an expert at walking through each step with our clients to make each project feel exciting and stress-free.
Heidi is incredibly earth-conscious and her deepest passion is working on conservation style landscaping which is meant to return the land back to its original state. One of her most rewarding projects to date was working with a client to revitalize a local-native garden that included plants Heidi (surprisingly) had never even seen before! The process was a real treat for Heidi who helped with fill-in plantings and adding structure for Winter interest. Putting her signature stamp on gardens and landscapes that are deeply connected to the will of the land is Heidi’s forte.
When she’s not working with clients, Heidi spends time with her husband, Ewan, developing their homestead in Bastrop. Heidi loves this area because of the uniqueness of the soil type and the variety of native plants only found in this little bubble of Texas. The proximity to exceptional (real) BBQ doesn’t hurt, either. Heidi and Ewan have a menagerie of animals, grow their own vegetables, collect their own water, and they’re currently restoring the part of their property that was damaged by the construction of their house. Their goal is to restore the land to a native woodland forest so the wildlife will return.
